What is Mitsume Temo?
Temo is a concept expressed by the means of a character, which also represents a brand and a community,
And what is this concept supposed to be?
The earth is round.
Ok, but this was actually proven by Christopher Columbus a bunch of centuries ago. What do you really mean with this statement?
Obviously, the reference to Columbus is not random at all.
Much before him, scientists were aware that the earth was round; however, the Church succeeded in maintaining the scientific truth well hidden, as it would have denied The Word.
At that time already, political and economical interests were favoured against uncomfortable realities; in fact, spreading misinformation is still an excellent technique and a powerful tool to practice supremacy.
Exactly as before, today the media are used to channelling all information as they like and tend to point at juvenile subcultures as deviant factors, dangerous for a society that, in the end, does not get affected.
So, what exactly is Temo’s cause?
At the beginning, Temo was born to help the Otaku culture reclaim its own dignity in Japan, being its own country of origin the cradle of infamous attitudes against itself.
However, it didn’t take long until this local purpose extended to a wider concept, aiming to defend all youth movements and subcultures in general. The Otaku situation represents the starting point of something increasingly bigger, as the community around Temo has been proving.
This is why the title includes “the Round Earth Committee”… isn’t it?
Indeed. The Committee is made of all our community’s members and all those willing to fight to support youth subcultures.
When was Mitsume Temo born?
In November 2009, at the Jagda Tokyo 28th Exhibition, where the “Cultural Talk and Yatters. Personal Opinions” exhibition took place, as pulled together by Takis Proietti Rocchi and Yano Masatsugu.
What should we expect from Temo, in the future?
Anything you can think of from a character representing a brand: cartoons, animation, games, merchandise, events and much more.
From a social point of view, you can already see a growing fan community, where everyone shares their common concern for the cause.
Besides what’s on the website, where can we find more traces of Temo’s community?
Besides the site contents, Temo’s community is spread all over the social networks, for example, in DeviantArt, Pixiv, Facebook or Cure, among others.
You can find all the links in the links section of our website.
You’re invited to look around and get prepared for the next big thing.
